OUT OF MIND
Downtown Jacksonville lacks basic requirements for typical street photography; a bustling metropolis with a sea of people for the photographer to hide amongst, unnoticed. During business hours, the working class walk the city streets to and from their professions. Once the workers have retreated to their cubicles, very few pedestrians remain. Photographing the area over the course of 4 months, it wasn’t long until Saville became acquainted with the workers and permanent residents of the urban core. Her discrete point-and-shoot camera was introduced to our interactions without objection, capturing raw and authentic moments between the subject and their environment. Many of these scenes are typically overlooked and ignored; out of sight, out of mind. This series offers a glimpse into the lives of humans who interact with the urban core in a reanimated and unprejudiced light. Images made with a Yashica T3 on Ilford 35mm film and enlarged as silver gelatin prints
